Argyll and Bute Golf Union: MacIntyre wins championship

Bob MacIntyre of Glencruitten tightened his grip on the area’s trophies by winning the 2013 Argyll and Bute Matchplay championship at Machrihanish.

His win meant that he was now in possession of all the scratch trophies available to him, ranging from Boys U16 right through to the Men’s Stroke-play and Match-play titles.

His win at the weekend was even more remarkable as he has only just recovered from a fractured elbow and this was his first tournament of the year after having to withdraw from the Scottish Boys at Monifieth and also the Champion of Champions at Leven.

His victory over Bobby Willan of the host club capped a fine performance with an emphatic 6 & 5 win to continue his dominance over Argyll and Bute amateur golf.
