In fact, of 33 games due to be played in Ayrshire on Saturday, only two beat the weather - and with the Danes' second attempt at their Scottish Cup replay to come this weekend, and a West of Scotland Cup second round tie against Aikenhead Thistle on
October 25, it will be November before the Rothesay side play another game in their already busy Caledonian League division one campaign.
Elsewhere in the Scottish Amateur Cup on Saturday, among the games which did beat the weather were those involving six Caledonian League clubs, five of whom made it through to the third round.
Among the Brandanes' Division One rivals, East Kilbride YMCA won 7-3 away to Ardrossan Castle, Glasgow University enjoyed a 7-0 stroll away from home against John Street, league leaders Rhu had a 4-3 home win over Sporto Amateurs and Newton Mearns Rovers thumped Inverkip Thistle 6-0.
Caledonian Premier side Dumbarton Academy FP were also convincing winners, 10-0 at home to Netherburn; the only Caley League losers on the day were Bannockburn, who were knocked out after a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Drumchapel United.
* A second attempt will be made to play the Brandanes' Scottish Amateur Cup replay away to Girdle Toll United this Saturday, October 18. The game will be played to a finish, with extra time and penalties if required, and as a result the kick-off is at the slightly earlier time of 2pm.
