New arrivals to open Bute's 2010 campaign

Camanachd Association issues new shinty fixtures

BUTE Shinty Club's senior team will start their 2010 campaign in the Scottish Hydro Electric Premier League with matches against the two teams just promoted to the top flight.


Having escaped relegation to the regional leagues by the skin of their teeth last month, the Bute first team get their new campaign under way away to Glasgow Mid Argyll on March 6, before welcoming North Division One champions Lovat to the Meadows seven days later.

Bute's second team, meanwhile, begin their assault on South Division Two with a local derby at home to Col-Glen, also on March 6.

The Camanachd Association published the forthcoming season's league fixtures on Thursday after making the draws for this year's cup competitions earlier in the week.

The Bute first team were given a bye in the first round of the Glasgow Celtic Society Cup and will play Kilmory or Ballachulish away from home in round two on May 1, while the Macaulay Cup draw handed Bute's seniors a home first round game against Kilmory on May 8.

Bute's second team were drawn away to Glasgow Mid Argyll in the first round of the Sutherland Cup, and away to Taynuilt in round one of the Bullough Cup.

The full fixture lists for both Bute teams are as follows.
