ALISON GEMMILL of Kilmarnock Barassie captured the 2008 Ladies' Open title at Rothesay Golf Club on Saturday by a three-stroke margin.
Gemmill, a joint winner back in 2004, took the title outright with a fine scratch score of 83, three clear of her nearest challenger, Louise Gibb of West Lothian.
The top 'home' performance came from Rothesay's own Louise Pearson, whose fine net score of 70 won her the silver division handicap honours, beating J. McKenzie of Stirling into second place thanks to a better last six holes; the bronze honours went to S. Murphy (Skelmorlie), who shot a net score of 71 to finish four shots clear of the Rothesay pair of Maureen Rothney and ladies' captain Betty Wilson.

Prizes were presented at the close of play by Betty Wilson and by gents' captain Hugh Charker at a ceremony presided over with his usual elan by club professional Jim Dougal.

Results as follows.

Scratch - 1 A. Gemmill (Kilmarnock Barassie) 83, 2 L. Gibb (West Lothian) 86.

Handicap, silver: 1 L. Pearson (Rothesay) net 70 (better last six holes); 2 J. McKenzie (Stirling) net 70; 3 E. Thomson (Cowal) net 74; 4= A. Thistle (Lochwinnoch) and S. West (Dunbracken) net 77.

Bronze: 1 S. Murphy (Skelmorlie) net 71; 2= M. Rothney and B. Wilson (both Rothesay) net 75; 4= M. McDonald (Rothesay) and G. Beglin (West Lothian) net 76.
