Holder heads list of Rothesay qualifiers

DEFENDING champion Graham Bolton leads the list of qualifiers for the knockout stages of the 2008 championship battle at Rothesay Golf Club after the qualifying rounds on Sunday.



Bolton shot rounds of 66 and 70 to finish one shot ahead of Gordon McClean, while a play-off between Kevin Bowie and Michael MacDougall was needed to decide the final place, Bowie emerging victorious to face the daunting prospect of a quarter-final tie with Bolton.

The qualifying rounds for the Atlantic Tankard and Sunningdale Bowl were also held on Sunday, with Ross Lowrie leading the Atlantic Tankard qualifiers with two 78s.

The draws for the quarter-finals of all three competitions are as follows.

Championship - Graham Bolton v Kevin Bowie, Steven Renfrew v John Gilchrist, George Reynolds v Tommy Reynolds, Gordon McClean v George Hanson.

Atlantic Tankard - Ross Lowrie v Stevie Campbell, Jason McKay v Willie Glen, Kenny Thomson v Jethro Bremner-Allison, Frank Lee v Stuart Robertson.

Sunningdale Bowl - Stevie Maher v Callum Geddes, Ivan Cowie v Michael Dodds, George Gillies v Gary Gabbell, Kevin Sayers v Paul Christie.
