The Met Office has issued a yellow ‘be aware’ warning for Argyll and Bute due to a forecast for heavy rain on the morning of Friday, January 22.

The warning lasts from 3am until 12 noon and covers most of west central Scotland.

In Rothesay the heaviest rain is expected between 6am and 9am, when up to 9 millimetres could fall at the same time as winds gusting to above 45mph, which have led to the Rothesay-Gourock ferry service being put on amber alert.

The rain and wind should both ease from mid-morning onwards, though gusts of up to 40mph could still be experienced later in the day.
