VIDEO: Rothesay service marks VE Day anniversary

A short memorial service in Rothesay on Frdiay marked the 70th anniversary of the end of the Second World War in Europe.

Veterans of the 1939-45 conflict were among the small gathering present at the Cenotaph in the town’s Victoria Street to see a wreath laid by local councillor and Argyll and Bute Provost Len Scoullar in memory of those from Rothesay who died during the war.

The service was organised by the Isle of Bute branch of Legion Scotland and was led by the branch’s chaplain, the Very Rev Andrew Swift of St Paul’s Episcopal Church in nearby Deanhood Place.
