VIDEO: Rothesay Pavilion ‘has a great future’, says MP

Danny Alexander MP says a refurbished Rothesay Pavilion can play a key role in the economic regeneration of Bute.

Mr Alexander, the UK government’s Chief Secretary to the Treasury, was speaking during a visit to Bute on Monday, when he confirmed the award of £600,000 towards the building’s redevelopment from the UK government’s Coastal Communities Fund (CCF).

The CCF award was announced just a day before the Heritage Lottery Fund’s board meets to consider a bid for £3 million for the Pavilion project - the last piece in the scheme’s funding package and the largest single application for financial support for the scheme, which has already received backing from Historic Scotland (£500,000), Highlands and Islands Enterprise (£750,000), the Scottish Government’s Regeneration Capital Grants Fund (£625,000) and Argyll and Bute Council (£1.8 million).
