Bute’s recycling efforts and community spirit have come in for praise as the two-year Zero Waste Bute project gets under way.

Speaking at the launch of the project, which will see local social enterprise Fyne Futures overseeing investment of £200,000 in a variety of initiatives, Frank Stubbs, the area project manager for Zero Waste Scotland, which is overseeing the scheme, said: “There’s a great sense of community here - just having been here a short time I can see that - and what they’re doing is using that community spirit to bring together improvements in recycling [and] getting the community behind them.”

A total of 200,000 will be spent on Bute in the next two years under the Zero Waste Bute project.
