The efforts by the Light Up Bute organisation to raise money for a community fireworks display in Rothesay continued on Sunday with a fancy dress parade along the town’s promenade.

Comic book personalities rubbed shoulders with cartoon characters as the parade headed from Rothesay Pavilion along Argyle Street and Victoria Street, up the pier and along the prom to the centre of the summer fairground currently in place on the seafront.

The job of choosing the best dressed entrants fell to former Rothesay Academy pupil Ashley Lilley, who starred as Ali in the 2008 smash hit film Mamma Mia, and who picked Gracie Cairney as the best dressed girl and Aaron Harding as the winning boy.
