VIDEO: House fire in Rothesay

Emergency services on Bute rushed to a house fire at the corner of Hillhouse Road and Ballochgoy Road, Rothesay, on Monday evening.

The fire, which caused extensive damage to the home owned by Chris and Kim Roberts, was reported at 7.20pm on Monday, February 2.

The family are safe and well having managed to get out of the house in time, and a joint investigation by Police Scotland and The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service is underway, although the circumstances surrounding the fire are not thought to be suspicious.

Members of the community have rallied around the Roberts family, with offers of clothing, footwear and other essential items being made through Facebook page, WeeBay Bute. A ‘GoFundMe’ web page has also been set up by island resident, Andy Walters, where the public can make a donation - within five hours £700 had been raised (exceeding the page’s target figure of £500).
