VIDEO: Day 2 of Bute cycling festival

The curtain fell on Bute’s annual festival of cycling on Sunday evening - at the end of a second busy day of competition on the island’s roads.

Sunday’s action, for those not still suffering too much from their exertions on the festival’s first day, began with a ten-mile solo time trial event at the north end of the island, from Ettrickdale to Rhubodach and back, and continued with the Isle of Bute Road Race series, with events for ladies, gents and novices, in the afternoon.

Competitors in the gents' road race set off from the Albert Pier in Rothesay on Sunday, September 21, 2014 - the final event in Bute Wheelers' annual Festival of Cycling.

The prize-giving ceremony at Rothesay Pavilion at the close of the festival included the presentation of the Rothesay Weekend Club Trophy to members of the Glasgow Green Cycling Club for their overall contribution to the festival’s five events - along with lots of fond farewells and vows to return in 2015 to an event which is growing in popularity every year.
