VIDEO: Bute nursery’s Commonwealth Games closing ceremony

The curtain fell in Rothesay on Apple Tree Nursery’s own version of the Commonwealth Games on Friday.

Led by piper Jane Gillies, children and teachers filed into the nursery before demonstrating some of the sports they’ve learned over the last seven weeks, including rugby, bowls, swimming, badminton, curling, cycling, football and even boxing in front of proud parents and grandparents.

After the presentation of medals to all the children, there was even a chance for some of the mums and dads to show off their own sporting prowess in a not-entirely-serious egg-and-spoon race.

* More pictures from Friday’s event in the next edition of The Buteman - on sale from Thursday, June 26.
