A ferry operator competing with Caledonian MacBrayne for the Clyde and Hebrides ferry tender will hold a public ‘drop-in’ event next month to speak to island residents.

Serco, which already operates subsidised lifeline ferries to Orkney and Shetland under the Northlink brand, will hold the session in the 292 Club on Thursday, November 12, from 11-5pm, with a meeting planned later that day with representatives from Bute Community Council.

* Both Serco and CalMac’s bids are due to be submitted by next January, with the successful bidder announced in May of next year, and the new contract taking effect in October 2016.
