Bute residents will still be able to buy combined tickets for ferry and rail travel when RET fares are introduced to the island’s ferry services.

In a further boost following last week’s news on season passes and 50-journey tickets, the Scottish Government’s transport agency, Transport Scotland, has now announced that ‘through tickets’ combining a ferry journey from Rothesay and a train from Wemyss Bay, will continue to be available, on the same basis as at present, when RET fares take effect at the start of the 2015-16 winter timetable on Monday, October 26.

That means Bute residents will still be able to buy through tickets in Rothesay at the off-peak train rate and use them at peak travel times on the Wemyss Bay-Glasgow railway line, i.e. before 9.15am from Monday to Friday.
