A Rothesay cyclist who suffered horrific injuries in a road accident on the island last summer has spoken to The Buteman about his long road back to recovery.

Mike Henry sustained a fractured skull, bruising to his brain, a shattered eye socket, a broken neck, nose, cheekbone, shoulder and ribs, punctured lungs, fractures in his spine, a burst artery, partial paralysis and had his quad muscles ripped from his legs after he collided with a stationary car near Port Bannatyne on the night of July 1, 2014.

“I’m lucky to be here at all,” Mike said. “That’s what I tell myself when things get tough.”
