Staff at Ardmaleish Boatbuilding Company in Port Bannatyne decamped to the village’s golf course on Friday to play a charity tournament in memory of their friend Kieran Currie.

Kieran, who grew up on Bute, was aged just 19 when he died after a road accident near his home in Dumfries on August 17, and the Ardmaleish workforce decided, as a tribute to him, to raise money for the intensive care unit at Dumfries General Hospital, where Kieran was taken after the accident, by playing a not-entirely-serious round of golf at Port Bannatyne.

Kieran’s gran Christine said: “The family would like to take this opportunity to thank all family and friends for the comfort and support we have received at this sad time.”
