Caledonian MacBrayne has announced that one return crossing on the Rothesay-Wemyss Bay route will not operate on Thursday, July 9, in advance of the RMT’s 24-hour strike the following day.

The 6.15pm sailing from Rothesay and the 7pm return from Wemyss Bay will be cancelled if no agreement is reached before then, although all other sailings should run as normal.

CalMac also says that both the Rhubodach-Colintraive and Portavadie-Tarbert services will run as per the published timetables on Friday in the event of the strike going ahead.

But there is no word - yet - of any contingency plan on the Rothesay-Wemyss Bay route for Friday, though we’ll publish an update on that situation as soon as we receive it.

Talks between officials from the RMT and CalMac Ferries Ltd entered a third day on Wednesday.
