MV Bute lies out of service at Rothesay pier on the morning of Tuesday, September 23, 2014.

Technical problems with MV Bute caused disruption to ferry services between Rothesay and Wemyss Bay on Monday and Tuesday.

The vessel went out of service after her first sailing of the day on Monday and remained out of action until late the following morning, with MV Argyle handling all the traffic on her own.

In a statement issued via their new Twitter service information account (@CalMac_Updates) at lunchtime on Tuesday, the ferry operator said: “Route now running to timetable. We would like to apologise to our customers for the inconvenience that this disruption has caused.”

We’ve asked the company for further details of the nature of the problem which forced the vessel out of service, and will publish an update here as and when we receive it.
