Campbeltown-based West Coast Motors, which runs all Bute's local bus service, has announced its latest expansion - the acquisition of Mull bus and coach firm Bowman's Tours.

The company which runs all Bute’s local bus services has announced its acquisition of a Mull-based bus and coach tour operator.

West Coast Motors will officially take over Bowman’s Tours on Monday, June 24.

The acquisition continues the company’s programme of expansion in recent years - the firm, which has been using the West Coast Motors fleetname since 1922, took over operation of Bute’s bus services from Stagecoach (formerly Western Scottish) in 2004 and now operates in Campbeltown and Kintyre, its original heartland, as well as in Mid Argyll, Oban and Lorn, Dunoon and Cowal.

As well as running local bus routes throughout Argyll and Bute, West Coast Motors also runs Scottish Citylink’s long-distance coach services linking Glasgow with Oban and Campbeltown, as well as a small network of services in Glasgow itself under the Glasgow Citybus banner, having acquired the Scotstoun-based firm in 2006.
