Bute’s elderly and disabled residents are set to find it much easier to get out and about on the island thanks to the improvement of a local community transport service.

Cowal-based Interloch Community Transport recently received a £552,375 five-year grant from the Big Lottery Fund’s Investing in Communities programme to increase its services to Bute - and is to use the money to expand its current two-days-a-week service on the island, every Monday and Friday, by working towards a full Monday-to-Friday operation.

Bute councillor and Argyll and Bute provost Len Scoullar said: “Interloch’s efforts are much appreciated by me and I am sure will be by recipients on Bute.”
