The Bute Arts Society’s 2015-16 winter concert series draws to a close this Friday, March 18, when the Tim Kliphuis Trio takes to the stage at Trinity Church.

The trio, comprising Tim Kliphuis on violin, Nigel Clark on guitar and Roy Percy on bass, are one of the world’s top string groups, combining jaw-dropping virtuosity and mesmerizing improvisations with a beautifully varied repertoire sourced from classical music, Stephane Grappelli’s gypsy jazz and traditional

music.

The Trio’s electrifying performances and remarkable audience rapport have made them firm favourites on the concert and festival scene, with highlights of the latter including the Amsterdam Concertgebouw and collaborations with the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, Edinburgh Jazz Festival, Richard Strauss Festival and Celtic Connections Festival.

The group’s Bute performance this Friday takes place at Trinity Church in Rothesay’s Castle Street, beginning at 7.30pm, and admission is £8 (free for students).
