Port Bannatyne’s Christmas lights display has been given a trial run ahead of the switching-on ceremony this Friday.

The team of local volunteers behind the installation set up the lights on Saturday and briefly bathed the front street in a festive glow - captured here by Marine Road resident Jack Robertson - ahead of the official ceremony on November 30.

Friday’s festivities, taking place at the old quay in the centre of the village, get under way at 6.30pm,and the lights will be officially switched on at 7pm.

Meanwhile, Carol Harding from Rothesay Post Office has been given the job of switching on Rothesay’s Christmas lights on Wednesday, December 5 at 4.30pm.

After the Guildford Square display has been illuminated children from the island’s three primary schools will sing a selection of Christmas carols and the Rev Owain Jones from the United Church of Bute will give a Christmas prayer.
