Storm Desmond can’t dampen Port Bannatyne Christmas spirit

Port Bannatyne’s Christmas lights were illuminated on Friday - despite the best efforts of Storm Desmond to put a spanner in the works.

Strong winds forced the organisers to move the festivities from the usual venue at the old quay in the centre of the village to the marquee at the rear of the Port Inn, where the more sheltered surroundings provided the ideal backdrop for pupils from North Bute Primary to sing Christmas carols and for Santa and his head elf to pop in and give a gift to all the children who’ve been good this year.
