Bute’s new community sport hub is to investigate the building of a new changing and meeting facility for the island in the middle of the Meadows and King George V park in Rothesay.

A meeting to discuss the potential for such a project - which could include a kitchen and bar area and room for meetings, social events and general get-togethers - will be held on Wednesday, December 4 at 6pm in the conference room at Rothesay Joint Campus, and all those interested in the subject are invited to come along and get involved.

The hub was set up earlier this year to share ideas for the development of sport provision on the island, both in terms of physical facilities and training and coaching of those involved in the clubs themselves.

The Bute group is the first community sport hub to be set up in the Argyll and Bute area, with others set to follow in Campbeltown, Helensburgh and Dunoon. The project is being overseen by Argyll and Bute Council with funding from sportscotland until March 2015.
