Staff members at Rothesay’s Co-operative supermarket raised money for Macmillan Cancer Support in a 24-hour sponsored ‘spin’ on Thursday.

Two staff members at a time took to a pair of exercise bikes located at the exit to the Bridge Street store, with customers and staff invited to drop in their spare change to support the cause.

We caught up with spinners Sean Lawrence and Kris Western, and some of their colleagues, shortly before the store closed to the public at 10pm, with Sean and Kris looking none the worse for being 55 minutes into their chosen slot.

Store manager Lyndsey Speirs said: “Thank you to everyone who donated and to John Digney and Argyll and Bute Council for the use of two of their exercise bikes.”
