SLIDESHOW: Bute gets set to Stand Up To Cancer

The final preparations are being made for the second Big Bute Photocall in aid of Cancer Research UK’s Stand Up To Cancer campaign.

The photograph will be taken in Guildford Square in Rothesay town centre at 12 noon this Friday, October 4, when as many island residents as possible are being encouraged to come along and donate £1, or whatever you can afford, to take part in the event.

Local community groups, workplaces and schools have continued to show their support for the campaign by posing for their own group photographs ahead of Friday’s event, while several brave souls from Bute Rugby Club and elsewhere went along to CRUK’s shop in Rothesay’s Montague Street on Friday morning to have their legs waxed by local beautician Mel Jack in aid of the cause.

Whether you’re able to go along to Friday’s photocall or not, check out this site on Friday afternoon for our coverage of the event - and make sure you don’t miss the next issue of The Buteman for more from the day!
