Senga sets benchmark for Hydro

LOCAL Scottish Hydro Electric retail manager Senga Rae has been praised in Parliament this week for the role she played during January’s power cut.

At an evidence session of the House of Commons’ Scottish Affairs select committee, chaired by Argyll and Bute MP Alan Reid, Alan Broadbent, head of engineering networks for Scottish and Southern Energy, said other areas could learn from Senga’s example.

During the meeting, which was held as part of an inquiry into the reliability of Scotland’s electricity transmission systems and the provisions made to cope with extreme weather, Mr Broadbent said Senga had “done a power of good” for the island during the interruption to the island’s power supply, and that her efforts had been greatly appreciated.
