The UK Independence Party has selected Caroline Santos as its General Election candidate in Argyll and Bute.

Caroline Santos has been adopted as the UK Independence Party’s Argyll and Bute candidate for May’s UK general election.

Educated at Rashfield Primary and Dunoon Grammar, Ms Santos worked in tourism on Tiree and at a fish farm near Dunoon, before going on to work in the care industry while bringing up three children, and has now returned to working in tourism.

Ms Santos’s three opponents so far are Labour’s Mary Galbraith, Alastair Redman for the Conservatives and sitting Liberal Democrat MP Alan Reid - though the SNP’s candidate will be announced early next month, on the conclusion of a ballot between three hopefuls, Antony Harrison, Brendan O’Hara and Simon Kemp.
