Medals belonging to a Rothesay man who fought in the first world war have been discovered in a rubbish skip in Kinlochbervie, North-West Sutherland.

Handyman Willie John Morrison discovered the medals in a little box on a rubbish skip in the town, which include a Military Medal for gallantry in the field, World War One campaign medals, the 1914-15 Star, the British War Medal 1914-18 and the Allied Victory Medal. They were awarded to 300628 Private S. Clark of 1st/8th Battalion Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders, the Argyll and Bute-based Territorial Army battalion of the regiment.

Any information about these medals, or indeed about Private Clark, would be greatly appreciated, and can be sent to news@buteman.com
