Five sheltered housing tenants in Rothesay were forced to leave their homes just before Christmas when a water tank overflowed and flooded their properties.

The main water tank at Ferfadd Court overflowed on the morning of December 21 after a ballcock failure, which resulted in flooding to a number of flats below.

The Hanover Telecare communication system within the complex was also affected, and landlord Argyll Community Housing Association had to put a temporary alert system in place.

ACHA chief executive Alastair MacGregor warned that it was likely to be “several days” before residents in the affected properties would be able to return to their homes.

More details in the December 27 issue of The Buteman - on sale now.
