A depute lieutenant for Argyll and Bute has become the latest recipient of a community service award from the Rotary Club of Rothesay.

Rothesay resident Lyn Bulloch received the award this week in recognition of nearly half a century of voluntary work in the community on Bute.

Mr Bulloch has been an elder at Trinity Church of Scotland in Rothesay since 1967, and has been the church’s organist and choirmaster since 1970.

He was a member of Bute Community Council from 1977 to 1983 (and its chairman from 1978 to 1981), and had two spells as chairman of the Isle of Bute Housing Association and its successor Fyne Homes, before retiring from the organisation’s board in 2011.

He was appointed as a depute lieutenant in the Lieutenancy of Argyll and Bute in 2004, and will retire from the post next year.
