Rothesay's community sport hub is planning a New Year Resolution Run on January 24 - and they're looking for the community's help in putting the event together.

A ‘New Year’s Resolution Run’ will be held in Rothesay later this month in support of the campaign for a kidney dialysis unit on Bute - but your help is needed to put the event together.

The island’s community sport hub is drawing up plans for the community event on Sunday, January 24, when people of all ages and fitness levels (walkers and joggers as well as runners!) will be invited to dust off any remaining festive cobwebs - and back a good cause at the same time.

A meeting is to be held at the Moat Centre this coming Monday, January 11, at 6.30pm to firm up the details of the event, and any members of the public who would like to help organise the day are welcome to come along.

Jillian Gibson, Argyll and Bute’s sport hubs co-ordinator, said: “The Bute Kidney Patients Support Group have just started a funding campaign to raise up to £300,000 to provide a kidney dialysis facility on Bute.

“This is a fantastic cause to support and encourage the community to come together to be active and have fun at the same time.”

The Dialysis Unit for Bute campaign was set up in October and has so far raised more than £8,000.
