Rothesay pupils tuck in at Burns supper

Rothesay Primary P7 pupils await their haggis, neeps and tatties at Mount Stuart.

Rothesay Primary P7 pupils await their haggis, neeps and tatties at Mount Stuart.

Rothesay Primary’s P7 pupils celebrated the life and work of Scotland’s national bard with their annual Burns supper at Mount Stuart.

In addition to the pupils, the day’s star performers included Rothesay butcher A.M. Macqueen and Sons, who supplied the haggis, Rothesay Academy teacher Mr Briggs and his hospitality students, who prepared the food, his colleague Mrs Nicol, who recited Tam o’ Shanter - and Mount Stuart themselves, who stood in with a minibus and driver at the last minute when it was realised the school’s own bus had been double-booked!

* For a full report on the event, written by P7 pupils Beth Swan and Abigail Clifford, plus pics, see the next issue of The Buteman - on sale from February 7.
