Pupils at Rothesay Primary School presented a donation of more than £100 to the local branch of the Royal British Legion Scotland this week.

The money was raised by the P5 pupils as a result of a class topic on the hundredth anniversary of the start of the First World War.

The class made paper poppies and held a special school assembly on the subject, selling the poppies and a DVD of the assembly to help the Legion’s work with former service personnel.

David Boe, chairman of the RBLS Isle of Bute branch, told the pupils: “The money is very gratefully received, but even more important is the fact that you’ve done something to remember what happened a hundred years ago.”
