Rothesay couple Ken and Irene Colville celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at their home in Craigmore this week.

The couple were married at Trinity Church in Rothesay on October 20, 1962 by the Rev James L. Weatherhead, having met at the Albert dance hall in Glasgow city centre.

Ken, who is originally from Kintyre, worked as a telephone engineer with the Post Office and later became the PR manager for the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, while Irene was born and brought up in Rothesay and spent her entire career in nursing and nursing teaching.

The couple, who retired to Rothesay 15 years ago, were visited by local councillor Robert Macintyre, who presented Argyll and Bute Council’s traditional gift of a bouquet of flowers to the happy couple.
