The organisers of Rock The Prom have promised a fun-filled family event when it returns to Rothesay promenade for a third year later this month.

With the event attracting over 1,700 people last year, this year’s event on Saturday, October 29, looks set to be just as exciting for the island community.

Light Up Bute chairman, Grant Graham said: “After the success of the last two years it was only right that we brought Rock The Prom back for a third year.

“One challenge we faced this year after last year’s success was how to make the event bigger and better in the same space in order to keep the event fresh and keep the people of Bute and beyond coming back.

“This year as the event coincides with Halloween, we are also running an on-the-night competition with fabulous prizes for the best dressed.”

Music-wise, X Factor 2013 finalist Nicholas McDonald will be returning to the event for a second year, and will be supported by a wealth of local talent including Emma Flanagan, Layla Templeton, Danny Sweet, Beth Swan and the Rothesay and District Pipe Band, along with more acts on the night.

The stage will be hosted by Bute Island Radio DJ, Chrissy Kinloch. Chrissy, hosting the event for the third year, said: “We are delighted to have this great line-up of performers this year.

“An obstacle we always find when organising this, is simply the number of acts that have applied to take part versus the time we have available on the night.

“However, I am sure that this year’s acts will provide something for everyone to enjoy, and we’re looking forward to one or two on the night surprises.”

Novelties of the event include a full funfair, with thrills and spills for all the family including two brand new rides which have never been to Bute - Speed Buzz and Big Shock.

For motor racing fans, there is a Ferrari F1 racing car coming to the event - be sure to check it out!

There will also be a bar, hot food kiosk and fireworks display.

Entry to the event is £3 for over 14s, with under 14s charged just £1. The night kicks off at 6pm, running until 11pm, and guarantees a fantastic evening’s entertainment for the whole family.
