Reid all about it: Bute couple celebrate 50 happy years

Bute couple Bobby and Beck Reid were joined by friends and family at a celebreation of their golden wedding anniversary in Rothesay on Saturday.

The couple, who met through their mutual involvement in the Bute Junior Agricultural Club more than half a century ago , were married in St Ninian’s Church in Port Bannatyne by the Rev Alex S. Borrowman on October 11, 1963, and now have four children, Robin, Hazel, Iain and Dougie, and four grandchildren, Jenna, Holly, Hamish and Fraser, in Scotland and Australia.

Among those present at Saturday’s celebration at Rothesay Golf Club were Archie Robertson and Margaret Robertson (nee Martin), respectively best man and bridesmaid at the Reids’ wedding, and local councillor Robert Macintyre, who presented the couple with a bouquet on behalf of Argyll and Bute Council to mark the occasion.
