Scotland’s Ready for Winter roadshow rolled into Rothesay this week to hand out information and advice to Bute residents on preparing for the worst weather of the year.

Victoria Cochran and Lara Okan from Ready Scotland were joined by Sharon MacDonald from Argyll and Bute Council at the town’s Co-operative supermarket as they dispensed torches, survival blankets, keyrings with lights and a host of useful information about preparing for winter.

“It’s all about getting people ready, making sure their cars and homes are ready and providing as much useful information as we can on topics such as driving in bad weather, cycling in the dark, coping with burst pipes, fire safety and so on,” Victoria said.

This is the second year of the Ready for Winter roadshow, set up by the Scottish Government under its Safer Scotland initiative as a result of the increasing number of extreme weather events the country has encountered in recent years.
