A raffle in aid of the Phoenix Centre in Rothesay has raised £200 for the organisation’s creative movement group.

The prize of a wooden sculpture of a heart, by Glasgow artist and friend of the centre Ronnie Gildea, was won by Helen Ovens, who works at McCaskie’s in Wemyss Bay.

The Phoenix Centre provides support for adults with a range of physical, psychological and learning disabilities; its creative movement group has been meeting every week for the last six years, with the help of funding from Argyll College.

The group plans to use the money raised to buy uniforms to help give them a sense of identity and confidence during their sessions.
