Port Bannat gala day returns this Sunday, June 2, after a successful street party in the village last year for the Queen's diamond jubilee.

All roads lead to Port Bannatyne this Sunday, June 2, as the village’s gala day makes a welcome return to Bute’s events calendar.

Last held in 2007, the gala day’s return is the result of a successful street party in the Port held last June to mark the Queen’s diamond jubilee, which persuaded its organisers that it was time to bring back the event.

Among the attractions are a fancy dress competition, a tug o’ war, Highland dancing, music from Tami Currie, Rosie O’Byrne, Beth Swan, Academy Swing, the North Bute Primary School choir and more, a fun dog show, a range of kids’ activities, a barbecue, sponge board, balloon tree, a ‘hook a duck’ competition, face painting, hair and nail art, home baking, a beer tent, a bottle stall, tombolas, teas and coffees and much more besides.

The gala day runs from noon until 4pm this Sunday at the public park in Port Bannatyne - we’ll see you there!
