The results of the first-ever election to Bute Community Council have been announced.

Twenty-six candidates - 13 of whom had not previously served on BCC - stood for the 20 vacant posts - and it was one of the new candidates, Henry Tait, who received the most votes, from 1,098 of the 1,744 people who returned valid papers.

Other new faces who will sit on the community council for the first time are Carol Sprowl, who received 866 votes, Barbara Hill (741 votes), Ellen Cromack (722), Kevin Bye (691), Ray Beverley (686), Gordon Gillespie (632), Mick Common (536), Martin Catlin (536), Paul Duffy (521) and Don Williams (468).

Three sitting members did not receive enough votes to be re-elected - Elaine Jukes with 363 votes, Nicola Jones with 296 and Charlie Fryars with 199.
