Police Scotland has issued a reminder to householders on Bute of the dangers of entering into agreements to have work carried out by cold callers.

The service issued the warning on Friday after receiving reports of vastly-inflated prices being quoted for roofing and roof-cleaning work.

Sergeant Dave Wilkinson from Police Scotland’s Rothesay office said: “If you receive an unrequested visit from an apparently reputable firm, offering to do work, then please note any details of vehicles, company names and telephone numbers and contact your local police.”
