There’s a choice of films at the Isle of Bute Discovery Centre Cinema in Rothesay from this Friday, April 1.

Showing as a matinee daily until April 7 is Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip (U), in which our squeaky-voiced heroes, Alvin, Simon and Theodore, come to believe their pal Dave is about to propose to his new girlfriend and dump them - giving them three days to stop the proposal and avoid gaining a terrible stepbrother.

The second choice this week, showing daily (except Sunday) at 7.30pm, is Hail, Caesar! (12A), written by brothers Joel and Ethan Coen and starring Josh Brolin, George Clooney, Scarlett Johansson and Tilda Swinton.

The tale follows a day in the life of Eddie Mannix, a Hollywood fixer for Capitol Pictures in the 1950s, who cleans up and solves problems for big names and stars in the industry. But when studio star Baird Whitlock disappears, Mannix has to deal with more than just the fix...
