This week we recall the Rothesay Brandane AFC team who won the Scottish Amateur Football League’s Division One championship in April 2001.

That year’s title success was - and remains - only the second league crown in the club’s history (the previous one had been in 1964), and was achieved without losing a game.

The picture above was taken after the club’s final home match of the league campaign, though the championship had been secured seven days previously with a 2-0 win away to Kings Park Rangers watched by, among others, two members of that 1964 title-winning squad, Haig Reynolds and Hector Whitelaw.

The squad on the day the 2001 championship was won comprised R. Baxter, R. Whitelaw, J. Crichton, J. Lilley, M. Morran, N. Whitelaw, C. McLean, J. Morrison, I. Cameron, D. McLaughlin, J. MacKay, A. Wilson, H. Currie, S. Officer, M. Kane and J. McKirdy.
