Bute Museum has some sparkling new additions to its collection in the form of trophies and a banner belonging to the Bute Federation of the SWRI.

The presentation was made to the museum’s curator Anne Speirs and archivist Jean McMillan by Jean McKirdy on behalf of the now-disbanded local SWRI federation.

Bute lost its federation status when the number of local branches of the SWRI fell below four - the minimum required to have an independent federation - and the three remaining institutes, Port Bannatyne, Ballianlay and Kilchattan Bay, are now part of the Renfrewshire Federation.

The trophies and banner have been added to the collection at the museum, located in Rothesay’s Stuart Street, and it is hoped to stage an exhibition of local trophies in the future.
