Work is ongoing to fix problems with the private water supply from Mount Stuart which has left water not fit for consumption.

We were contacted by a reader whose water supply comes from the Estate who advised that for the past two months the water hasn’t passed the relevant tests required for safe consumption.

Bob Baines, Bute Estate factor, told The Buteman: “We are aware of the current issues with our private water supply and have kept our tenants regularly updated whilst we work hard to resolve it.

“On the advice of Argyll and Bute Council we have issued boil water notices as a precautionary measure only. We have also supplied bottled water for drinking and it remains available for any residential tenants.

“The council are due to carry out a re-test early next week and we hope to provide our tenants with a further update at that time.”
