Local community thrift shop For Bute has donated a further £2,750 to good causes on the island this week.

The latest round of donations, raised from the sale of second-hand goods and bric-a-brac at the For Bute shop in Victoria Street, saw £1,000 given to the Rothesay Joint Campus library, £1,000 to the Bute Highland Dance Festival, £250 to the Light Up Bute community group and £500 to Beachwatch Bute.

For Bute has donated more than £35,000 to good causes on the island since the shop’s doors were opened in March 2013.

The organisation - a registered Scottish charity - now also has an official website, set up and maintained with the technical know-how of local resident Rose-Marie Barbeau.
