The Scottish Salmon Company will hold aquaculture information events at Kingarth and Ballianlay following a similar session at Rothesay Pavilion in April.

The company which is examining the potential for setting up two fish farms off the coast of Bute is to host two more information events for the public in the next few days.

The Scottish Salmon Company, which hosted a similar event over two days at Rothesay Pavilion last month, will be at Kingarth Hotel on Tuesday, June 2, from noon until 8pm, and at Ballianlay Hall on Wednesday, June 3, also from noon to 8pm.

The venues have been chosen because of their (relative) proximity to the two sites the SSC believes might be suitable for development: one near to the White Port, between Kilchattan Bay and Glencallum Bay, and the other to the north of St Ninian’s Bay, off the Ardroscadale shore.

The events will give interested members of the public - in particular those living closest to the two sites - the chance to find out about operational practices, techniques, controls, environmental assessments and other aspects of the modern aquaculture industry in Scotland.
