Ladeside Park, which is being leased by Light Up Bute, will be the focus of a community project by Argyll and Bute Youth Services, completion of which will qualify the island's youth to join in mainland activites during the Easter school holidays.

In exchange for participating in a community-based project on Bute, the island’s youth will have the chance to take part in mainland activities during the Easter holidays.

Argyll and Bute’s Youth Services has released its programme of activities during the school holidays next month (April 1-18), and in addition to island-based pursuits there will be visits to Glasgow’s Climbing Centre, swimming and ice skating at the Waterfront , or ‘Lazer Matrix’ in Greenock.

In exchange for participating in a community project at Ladeside Park (involving general maintenance, tidying, making planters, seed planting, etc.) and a £5 deposit, places can be secured for the mainland activities at sign-up evenings in Bute Community Learning Office in the Moat Centre on Tuesday, March 22 from 6 - 8pm, and on Wednesday, March 23, from 6 - 7.30pm.

On home soil there’s plenty planned during the fortnight, including a trip to the cinema and abseiling at Dunagoil.

Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served, basis - so be fast!
